Well BF3 is pretty shit example of single player. CoD was never a shining light in campaign but BF3 poorly copied it and ended up with even more shit. DICE doesn't understand that some people might want to play something besides rush.

Yeah that's why I'm wondering how they will solve that issue. Using a mouse on the couch isn't terribly easy. It can't really compete with consoles if you need to plug a mouse and keyboard in to keep up in online games.

PC convert here. I play everything with a 360 controller, but if there other people involved I switch to keyboard and mouse to try to keep up.
