Turing cars off today locks the steering wheel up. People who are nervous are aren't car guys would turn the key all the way off and lock the steering wheel. People like us are smart enough to turn the key of one position so at least you have steering.

My idea, which is much simpler, is to put the vehicle in neutral, let the motor blow if it has to, and either get the car fixed by insurance or sue the car manufacture.
