It looks tidy, but I imagine what a nightmare would be to dig through the wires located at such inappropriate level when you are under the desk, trying to modify them.
@LHEric: well, then gemcosta comment about horizontal planks would work for you. but I would modify it. I would leave the top(distant) 40 percent of desk with vertical planks and remaining 60 would keep solid. this way you can work and keep your cables tidy.

@tucker augie'ben'doggy: if you go on a hike - it's a good idea. If you use it in the city - just make sure it's sturdy enough (and have some duct tape with you - it will do for the rest of a day, and in the evening you just change it/sew it).
