Each game is - mostly - based on its own ; like Final Fantasy is.
They are not really connected, sometimes have the same Worlds with similiar cities but overall they are quite different and most of them are acutally enjoyable.

If the game has the same name its mostly an Prequel/Sequel to the Story you already played.
