To me, the only good part was Cas and Dean ending up in Purgatory...but then Cas left and the creatures very slowly closed in on Dean? Not sure the ending made too much sense, but I think it's a great place to take the show. Maybe they can meet God(possibly again) only this time in Purgatory.

Yeah, Thor(and Captain America too) was infinitely better then Iron Man too. Those two movies are my reason for seeing The Avengers

"I haven't read the books" exactly. I've read about 50-60% of each book but I just hate them so much. GRRM's writing style and story telling ability are insufferable to me as are most of his characters, but I know Ygritte because I love me some Jon Snow.
