Not to put words in Ice Dragon’s mouth, but I took from his/her comment that racism is part of the problem, but not the whole problem. And I would agree. I also agree that this problem disproportionately affects people of color. You are both correct.

It’s all good. The benefit of message boards is that we have the chance to state our thoughts uninterrupted. The downside is that we lose the benefit of real time conversation, and body language, which sometimes deprives us of the ability to see another person’s spontaneous agreement.

I don’t know much about antifa. Aren’t they more of an international organization? I did look on their website, and a lot of the prisoners whose cause they take up are in Europe. If that is the case, then the lack of ties to any one nation would make sense.

And the “our women” “your women” thing (which also has racial overtones, now that I think about it) sends me into an irrational rage whenever I see it.…

I agree completely. This sign, intended to taunt the alt-right, played right into both sexist and racist tendencies to dehumanize. There are much better ways to piss them off, without resorting to this crap. Our side needs to do better than this.

You know, I am pissed as hell that the right wing has co-opted a flag that is supposed to represent everybody. They have also co-opted such buzzwords as “patriot”, “freedom,” and “liberty”, when they are about anything but these things.

I don’t like any sign that makes reference to “your women.” Women are not possessions, regardless of how twisted some women’s opinions are. And it absolves white supremacist women from responsibility.

I wonder how hard she will have to work to be as shitty a lawyer as her father was. But maybe she will inherit his luck and will also land a largely ceremonial role in a big trial.

My guess is he will pawn her off on Melania, and Gloria will be very disappointed to find that she and Melania are not, in fact, kindred spirits. Gloria will make the best of it because she is an optimist.

I LOVE him. When GOT had gotten way too rapey and misogynistic, HE was the only thing that kept me watching that show. He is amazing.

I am perpetually anxious about my daughter. She hasn’t had the easiest life, despite having grown up with a loving family. She was bullied in high school and the lack of job opportunites when she graduated college really sacked her self-esteem.
