Maybe I didn't explain the point of the source post clearly, but no one's saying success and achievements don't matter. To get to those, though, you have to keep going—and focusing only on results ("I need to lose 1 pound every week") rather than effort ("I've exercised every day this week") can be counter-productive.

Sure, results matter. But often to get them, you need an extraordinary amount of effort—and the perspective that your efforts are worthwhile.

I wish there was a way to make this valuable in terms of resumes without sounding pathetic.
