Do you have proof of any of these claims?

Like the Tundra winning the Baja 1000? What Baja 1000? I seem to recall a Ford TT won the overall race in 2017. Everywhere I search agrees.

Are we talking about a different class?

And the Mint 400?

Ford’s press release from the 2017 Mint 400 claims they won the race and were the

If I want a Raptor ... I want a Raptor.

Buying the Tundra is like buying a fake Rolex. With extra hands on the face.

“You can’t REALLY tell the difference, can you?”

While I won’t discount the fact that Tundras are bulletproof, I would go with a GM or Ford. Parts are more plentiful and they are designed in a way to make maintenance easy. The americans tend to design for ease of replacement, Toyota designs for longer service life. If you keep it long enough(150k+) you’re going to

I get that. But in the full size truck world Ford and GM seem to last as well. Dodge too if you’re only counting drivetrain on a V8.

As long as the frame doesn’t rust. That was supposed to be isolated to 1st gen tundras and tacomas, but I have 2 friends having the frames on their later 2nd gen trucks being replaced

I’ve always thought that Toyota trucks were a bit overpriced. A month ago, I spent a day offroading a new Tacoma 4x4 with a TRD Offroad (offroad sport?) package. I don’t know how much the owner paid, but it looks like near $40,000. The truck was well optioned.

I don’t understand people who buy Tundras.  This thing is so far behind the rest of the full size segment that it should be getting last-gen Titan levels of discounts to move.

And the V6 sounds like dogshit.

Am i in a safe place to say that the new raptor has one of the worst exhaust tones i’ve heard on a truck?

It may be cheaper but it’s old as hell now. I’d rather go used Raptor. But even then that’s if you can find a used one for a good price.

Beat up used two door Wrangler. Get rock rails. No door dings - and you won’t care if you do get them.

Flex is out for DC street parking. Out.  Out.  Out.

Surprised not more people pointing this way, but since he parks on the street in DC, it would only work if he has access to a place to charge conveniently. If there was a charger at work it would be ideal, but that’s the biggest issue with an EV in the city.

Subaru Baja

It would still be a pain to park in DC and nobody is gonna let that thing merge on the Beltway. DC drivers are awful.

You’re a cyclist. Just give in a buy a Subaru. It’s going to happen one way or another.

I’m worried it would be a serious pain driving around DC without good rear vision in a panel van. Especially if this guy isn’t used to driving and purchasing a first car that he needs to parallel park. I’m all for panel vans as they look great, but not as a first car for somebody living in DC.

Maybe I’m nuts, but after wrenching on Saabs for the better part of 40 years, I can say these GM underpinned 9-5s are pretty easy to work on and parts aren’t hard to get. Unlike earlier Saabs where engineering solutions were truly “inspired by jets” and thus weird as hell, these are pretty much Opel Vectras with

Why do people think they can get away with selling a 20 year old car that isn’t a classic for anything more that $1000?
