what. the. ever living. fuck. If you go to the police your school invalidates the assault report? I'm sure that makes sense to some bureaucrat somewhere, but seriously?

Question: Why involve the school at all and go through a school's judicial system? Why do victims not go straight to the police or a hospital? This has always confused me.
