Jaguar a couple decades ago ran an electromagnetic valve system. While the system allows the engine to produce more power, it was offset by the electrical load required to operate the system. The only advantage was smoothness.

The problem with tech like this is it won’t be used. Pilots need to be proficient at landing without these system in case it malfunctions. It is much like the ACLS where they really don’t use it because they get a no-grade on the landing. Every pilot wants to be at the top of the list with the highest landing grades.

Drove a Fiat 500 as a rental. The trunk is useless, can’t even get two carry on bags in there without folding the seats. The BRZ will hold two carry on and one more small bag in the trunk with the rear seats up.
