Beyond infuriating and the picture is just utterly heartbreaking. I can't imagine the anger and shame she felt and it makes me sick to my stomach. We should be past this degrading, racist shit as a country and as a civilization. I know the calendar says it's 2014 but lately it feels like 1814 instead.

Okay, I understand, I'm just saying they could have told her you can still come, just not with a camera crew. Apparently she has spoken at the school before, but this new Principal won't let her this time. Also, it wouldn't make sense for Nicki to put this info out into the Public, if she was lying and it could be

No, I think it's trollish to write an article that relies on a litany of assumptions, speaking about an event that has yet to actually occur.

I can't tell if that's a dirty joke or not. If it is, then I had a funny comeback. If it isn't, then I'm glad I didn't say it yet.

I should have clarified better. There was no homophobia in the Swift song. I was impressed that there was nothing offensive about the video and it was just dudes having a good time.

I missed the homophobia in the Taylor Swift video and didn't agree with the cries of racism. This is terribly cute, though all but one fraternity brother need to really commit to those dance moves!

Shared this with a friend from across the country who actually works at a comics shop and also happens to be black, and has many amusing stories about casual nerd racism. He had a pretty good comment I'm going to paraphrase here.

Him: "Okay, so if my shop had a room that everyone called 'dead nigger storage', think

To everyone saying it is just a joke: That's the point.

Worst name for a room ever.

Addendum:

"she wouldn't work" = she can't take a rape joke.

And if you're right about the reasons I hope they pay for it.

Which in fact is one of the things the investigation(s) will need to address.

Thanks so much for sharing this. The blurb about how McCulloch refused to prosecute these two cops is especially disturbing:

OMG. Mike Brown's juvenile record is going to be public knowledge while we still have NO information on Darren Wilson besides what internet sleuths have dug up? Why, once again, is the dead person the one on trial?

If someone uses racial/sexist slurs, calling them racist or sexist is not a personal attack, it's an observation. Those are not words that exist just to hurt people, they're just descriptions. If you don't want to be called racist or sexist, then stop doing those things. The comments we dismiss are just baseless

I don't think he's going after people posting an opinion. I assume he's going after people who can't post their opinion without throwing up on their keyboard in a fit of rage.

You know, I've been following this pretty closely over the past few days, falling down the rabbit hole and reading a lot of intelligent, inspiring articles on the issue as a result, while also reading way too many horrible, vitriolic words from those I'd always considered "my people."

I'm all for pointing out cultural appropriation and calling out those who perpetrate it, but I fail to feel outrage over this video. I mean at least Taylor thinks that it's a dance equivalent to ballet and interpretive instead of going, "eww black girls shaking their asses, yuck". And if all the dancers were white,
