We actually don't know that there were no drugs in the home. It's not likely that the police would be able to secure a warrant to search for drugs based on her nodding out on a video. It's easier to start a CPS investigation.

The mom just knows she lost someone who loved her unconditionally. I doubt she has any interest in what is best for the kid, she just cares about losing that emotional support.
