My teenager does this all the time because he's too impatient to actually cook the sandwich. It's groooosssssss.

I don't know where I picked it up, but I started putting mayo on grilled cheese instead of butter a couple years ago, and it's nummy. It's also easier than trying to remember to take the butter out of the fridge 2 hours before you want to have your sandwich! I still use butter when it's available, but mayo works…
Water is definitely the best hangover prevention.
That was always my favourite of her movies, too.
Damn! Judging by how long it took my sister to get home for Christmas, I'd guess you're a good 11 or 12 hours away from me.
I've been around for a good 3 years (maybe more. Who can tell?) and I'm still grey. Someday I shall be witty or pithy or both and someone will deign to un-grey me. Anyway.
Nymski has some excellent advice for you, Stinalee.
Yes, yes, yes. My concern for my husband's obesity isn't that he "looks bad", it's that he now has such terrible sleep apnea that I'm constantly terrified that he will actually die in his sleep. It's that he literally cannot bend at the waist. He has to use his inhaler after he ties his shoes, for heaven's sake!
Animal shelters, women's shelters, homeless or DV shelters, locally owned thrift or vintage or consignment stores, churches, food pantries... many of these places will even take stuff that is ripped or stained, because they send it to a cloth recyclers (my local thrift store does this). Animal shelters will usually…
Yes, there are. I used to be one of them. My husband has always had the sex drive of your average turnip, and so those times he WAS in the mood and would wait until I was asleep before watching porn and getting himself off... uh, yeah, I got a little upset.
that. is. hypnotic.
I grew up poor (my parents didn't make much money) but solidly middle class (my grandparents were very comfortable and helped to a point). My mom always had a garden and I learned to cook and bake very young. I cooked standard American fare, though. Boxed dinners and canned soup doctored up a little with veggies and…
That's an awesome idea! My guy and I were talking about doing something very similar just the other day! We are currently getting just over $500 a month on SNAP. There's 8 people in my family. The SNAP program counts every dollar on your last 2 paychecks when you re-certify, even if it's a one time thing, like a…
"They grew up with parents who cooked healthy food for them and modeled good eating habits. They probably inherited used pots and pans from parents and got kitchenware as housewarming gifts when moving out on their own for the first time."
Thank you for this post. As someone who has lived off of what we could get from food pantries, thank you for trying to feed people like my family better.
this is true. those schmucks who are all, "oh, i can't eat gluten... i'll just have a teeny bite of your burger..." and then end up finishing it, because, like dieting, it doesn't count if it's on your plate? yeah. they can all just... go away.
oh, for sure. i gave up after a few tries of, "oh, yeah, it's totally gluten free and dairy free" and then the kids are miserable for the next 3 days. the only thing that i've found that never seems to bother them is Wendy's chili.
exactly. i cook just about everything from scratch for my kids. there's very little they can eat if we go out, and i'm frustrated by it but resigned.
oh, well, idiots are everywhere. i'm sorry. it's just been so nice to actually be able to get things like pretzels and ice cream cones (my 2 youngest are 9 and 10 and had their very first ice cream cones a couple of weeks ago) that are gluten free.
noooooo!!! it's only the last couple of years that i can find stuff my kids can actually eat! save the gluten free trend! in fact, make more gluten free things dairy free, as well!
