Walker was good for at least 2-3 “what the fuck?” moments every match. Trippier may not have Walker’s pace (hardly anyone does), but he’s younger, hungrier, and puts a better ball in the box.

Let’s also not forget that if Dier left, it would be harder to hold on to Dele Alli. Those two have one of the best bromances in the Premier League.

Trippier didn’t challenge Walker’s position as starter, he outright took it- Trippier seemed to be the clear choice as starter down the stretch and I don’t recall any word of Walker being injured or anything.
