Classic Chargers trap game—I also predicted it. Can’t wait to have my Sundays be free.

This is odd, the Chargers are usually such an efficient and well-structured organization.
Good to see “that fucking guy” make an appearance in Kinja.
Nice comeback, but that’s some dreadful goalkeeping. Also, Christine Press is a stud.
Tell that to Haisley. Enjoying your writing/podcast action, good stuff.
Caravan is awesome! I’ve seen them three times, and they were incredible shows. One show was at this really cool theatre in Portland, with “bouncy” hardwood floors. When they played this song, the entire crowd was jumping up and down, and those bouncy floors were getting some real action.
No one will argue that CONCACAF doesn’t hold a candle to Europe or South America. But it’s pretty ridiculous to call a confederation that sent Costa Rica to the quarters, and Mexico/U.S. to the round of 16, “garbage.”
Not to mention he (Trippier) looks like he actually understands tactics. His positional sense is fantastic; he’s always making great diagonal runs in behind the opponent’s left back to stretch the defense. He gets back on defense, his final ball is great, and he works his tail off. So happy he’ll be getting a run…
You’re not biased - Tripper is flat-out better. Walker has literally no positional sense, he spends most of a given match standing near the touchline, and not even in an advanced position. He doesn’t have a left foot, and is prone to one or two huge gaffes in any given match. Trippier doesn’t have the same pace,…
Dier is a huge piece for Spurs, but that’s a little hyperbolic don’t you think? The defense was equally stoic last year when Dier wasn’t starting, and Wanyama/Dembele manned the center of the park. I guess what I’m saying is: Alderweireld is fucking fantastic.
This shouldn’t be an issue. I’m sure someone just hacked his Twitter.
First move looks to be that we’re bringing in the young CB Juan Foyth (for about $10m) from Estudiantes. He’s probably a year or two away from regularly competing, but reports are high on him. Could be the next Dier.
Fair enough! And I guess you never know with Daniel Levy.. there’s always a chance he asks for, and gets, another 20M at the last minute. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying your coverage, btw.
I appreciate Walker, and love his athleticism, but I honestly think that Spurs are a better side with Trippier starting. Walker has no left foot, and is tactically unaware. He tends to stand around a lot, and then 2-3 times he’ll make a notable 40 yard burst down the wing, only to send in a poor final ball. …
It’s been reported from nearly every big soccer source. With add-on fees, it’s almost 65M. What a coup for Levy and Spurs.
Kyle Walker was also sold to Man City today for around $6oM, which is probably worth a mention.
Not as hot as it will be in Qatar when they try to play a World Cup there in a few years. Arena is meh, but switching coaches when the World Cup is 12 months away makes little sense. He’ll be gone after the next WC.
Agree that I’d rather have an old, worn-out Tim. But William Yarbrough, current playing for León, and Jesse González of FC Dallas (who just switched over from Mexico’s youth teams), would both be solid options.
Not defending the Beasley decision, but the back “3" was actually a pretty clear back 5 in something resembling a 5-4-1.
