whoosh

11 points and a goal differential 27 better than Arsenal. I’ll let that do the patting, big guy.

Billy didn’t write a single word about St. Totteringham’s day. If you’re foolish enough to think that he didn’t write about Spurs annihilations lately because it’s inconsequential, then you must be a gooner.

It’s almost as if Spurs didn’t score 13 goals combined in their last two matches.

It’s almost like Spurs’ destruction of Arsenal never happened. Weird.

Poch is a special manager. Nothing sums up his influence better than when Harry Winks scored his first goal and ran directly over to him for a hug. I’m hoping he stays around long enough to see us well into the new stadium’s tenure. COYS.

No post today about Man U’s win over Chelsea and how it affects the title race?

That’s a bad analogy.

This is good Kinja.

I think you should read the rest of my posts on this thread.

Here’s a primer on the arbitration process, as you seem to have a few misunderstandings about how it actually works:

3.08 ERA in 73 innings, with 126/28 K/BB ratio, 1.78 FIP, and only 54 hits allowed. I think “very pedestrian” is a little bit off. Allen’s stats from last year are marginally better, and Shaw’s aren’t. Miller is already in the above-mentioned list. If you’re listing Otero as the number four in this equation, well,

These are good points. And, as an almost-lawyer, I can tell you that I do mostly understand fiduciary obligations ;). I have a hard time believing, however, that many of these baseball players are dictating the terms of their arbitration figures. I guess what I’m saying is that, IF Betances was in fact dictating the

No. I’m assuming that 4.2 would greatly increase Betances’ shot at winning, which is undoubtedly true. And please, the agent didn’t want to lose this arbitration to spotlight the Yankees’ behavior. Levine did that himself by talking out of his ass after the arbitration ended.

This is not the issue, here. IF Betances wanted no part in settling, then Murray should have brought his client into arbitration with a more reasonable number. If you’re a commercial litigator, you know full well that coming into arbitration with a figure of 5M was extremely risky considering that Betances’ projected

This misses the point. What Betances lost is a realistic shot at winning in arbitration—something he would have had with a more reasonable number like 4.2M. That would have given him 1.2M this season, and a shot at 5-10M more over the course of his career

Think you missed the point of the article.

Any reliable metric would place Betances among the league’s best RPs along with Miller, Chapman, Britton, and Jensen. The guy has a ridiculous K/9, ERA, IP, FIP, the last three seasons.

So, you either agree with me that Levine’s decision was imprudent, still don’t understand the point I’m making, still don’t understand how arbitration works, or all of the above.

I think these are all really great points. Again, though, coming in with a number of $5M was extremely risky, and very unlikely to pay off. Murray could have come with a number like $4.25M—which still would have been a “big” number, yet given him a much greater chance of success, while also pushing the market for
