They're not as easy to come by as you would think, but in this instance I do agree.

Thankfully, I just converted my Golf from a 2-belt system to the (normal) 1-belt system that came in the GTI. I had one lap belt that went towards the handbrake, and then another belt that started at the handbrake and attached to the door. The door-mounted belt stays attached to the door when it opens and apparently

Swaps from a 3-series. I could have been clearer on that. It's a pretty common conversion.

BMW 2002! It may not be perfect at this price, but you can surely buy them! I've seen a few good ones with 5-speeds in them for less than $5k.

Precisely my first thought!

Wow, what an amazing car! It truly is beautiful. Now I sort of want one . . .

For the record - I'm in Palo Alto and there are 15 Model S mules running around town, and these are real mules. Are they ready for production? Could be, I guess. I haven't seen anything that looks production-ready.

The price might be a bit high, but the car has charm, looks well done, and would be a blast to putter around in with your friends (assuming the extra weight doesn't prevent motion altogether). Great summer ride, a classic done differently.

I understand that that's the case for the race cars, but not every car in the paddock races. There are numerous personal vehicles (getting to/from the track, for sale, etc.).

Finally (as decided by my lack of photos), I want to acknowledge that this is simply the craziest gathering of cars in the world. I can't verify that every Cobra in this photo is real, but I'd place a bet that many of them were. Where else can you see multiple real ones racing?

The second spectacle was seeing 5/6/7 (my memory sucks) GTOs racing, hearing them at full throttle, and seeing that up close in the paddock, they were real drivers.

Here are some spectacles from my weekend. The first was being able to ride along in a V12 E-type on the track. The owner had the suspension and tires sorted and it was a real kick, even though the parade lap was pretty slow.

It has to be NP from me. I saw this ad yesterday and was blown away. Yeah, the BBS wheels are a little big, and yeah, it loses some collectability, but GODDAMN would that car be fun! I like the TR6 and I like it even more with every bolt gone through and a fantastic drivetrain.

That's a great group of cars to watch every year.

You learn to deal with right hand drive when you drive a car that's worth it. I did.

Fantastic.

I appreciate your inspirational Jalop-devoted post, and I know exactly what you mean, but I can't say I like the sequential lights. I think they're pretty dumb. I do love quirks - don't get me wrong. I just think that's a dumb quirk.

I want this.

Yes! Thank you for that.

Wait a second - that's not front-engined, nor does it have a transversely-mounted front-wheel drive 4-cylinder that almost every economy car has now! You almost had me there, except that you didn't.
