I had Blade Runner more in mind when I imagined Snow Crash - a sort of dark and dreary world of neon lights and burbclaves presented as armed military style camps with a conglomeration of Asian and western cultures. I couldn't help but believe that Stephenson's world was influenced by Blade Runner anyway so it seems

Snow Crash is tailor-made for the Hollywood once over - remove all the intricacies of the plot, the sophistication of the characters and the environment, water it down to a story about a guy who delivers pizzas for the mob in reality and is a katana wielding samurai warrior in the cyberworld, add a back to the future

The last scene reminded me of Willow. And with each video, the way that Peter Jackson clearly creates an environment of collaboration, allowing dozens of different artists to use their creative abilities on set...he's the anti-George Lucas or perhaps George Lucas as he once was back when made good movies.

I seem to vaguely recall an early draft of Blade Runner where Deckard travels to a farm, very much like what Ridley Scott describes, to kill a replicant...interesting.

Great - the last Star Trek movie made me feel like it took place in a brewery.

Didn't Phoebe's twin sister from Friends already make this film?

Charlize Theron - the new queen of Sci-Fi?

I feel like I've already seen it via the trailers. I hope there are still a few surprises but I can give a detailed a description of 90% of the plot at this point.

"Demon With a Glass Hand" influenced Watchmen? Has Harlan Ellison sued Alan Moore and DC comics yet? I wonder if it's legally plausible to sue "everything from?" Heck, lets just sue all of science fiction!

The real question we should all be asking - has anyone checked on the Tesseract lately?

Have to agree - at one point you can even hear the very distinct hum of jet engines. Not to pull a swamp gas reflecting off of Venus dismissal, but this sounds very much like the sound of jet engines and wind.

"I was totally cool calling it a plane or something until I saw the giant ion plasma canon when zoomed in."

Love the retro game box cover - men play Battleship...women do laundry. Ah, the good old days...;D

So you’re saying that estimating a future condition based on a statistical trend observed over a set time period without bothering to consider current possible causes and proving the connection between those causes and the observed trend is…stupid? It’s kind of like predicting the weather in 100 years based on

It's the creepy suicide forest...it's eating the population of Japan one poor soul at a time...

So with technology gone and the world spiraled downward into what appears to be dark age feudalism you think consumerism would survive? Have you ever stopped to consider what it would take to survive without all the modern comforts of technology? Growing food alone would demand approximately 80% of ALL your time and

Isn't it amazing that despite not having electricity or any of the comforts of technology young, sexy teenagers can still dress at the height of modern fashion, sport perfect, magazine quality hairdos, and flash those brilliant white hollywood smiles! I bet they even smell good too!

Most graphic novels, as was made clear from the very first graphic novel: Wathcmen, are intended to be darker, deeper, and more "adult" than comic books. Many of them feature adult themes, nudity, heightened violence, and, as pointed out, are often much darker than their comic predecessors. Christopher Nolan's

As good as The Dark Knight was, I can't help but feel it was more of a graphic novel adaptation than a comic adaptation. Part of the joy of comics, at least when I was an avid comic reader, late 70's to late 80's, was the fun, the idea that yes, being a superhero could be demanding and dangerous and meant great

I think John Carter suffered from looking too much like the Star Wars prequels in the trailers. Admit it, the first thing you thought of when you saw footage of John Carter fighting some alien monster in a big, desert like arena was that silly scene in Attack of the Clones. Prequel fatigue...yes, it's all George
