I showed my girls this movie for the first time a few weeks ago and they are obsessed with it! They now want to join the girl scouts, but I think they may be disappointed with the general lack of fondue and fancy luggage

My daughters were actually among the kids who waited a couple of hours at this event to meet Elsa. The bookstore did quite a bit of publicity for the event apparently & my mom thought the girls would dig it. After waiting a long time, the first wave of Elsa fans started leaving the store more than a little…
I had a razr until 2008 when my newly crawling daughter got a hold of it and started chewing on it. That phone had been dropped and beaten for years with no issues. 30 seconds in the hands of a baby & it was fried!
We live in Louisiana. Window hammers are very easy to use and very common. I have them in both of my cars and my kids know where they are and how to use them. If your car ever goes off the road into the water, you use them to get out of the window if the pressure makes it impossible to open the doors. Yay life in the…
In most cars(both of my cars for sure), the child safety cannot be turned off unless you actually open up the car door and flip a switch located on the side of the door. I am sure there was probably a way to get out of the car that didn't involve breaking the window, but the kid was hot, sleepy, & freaked out. I…
I totally agree. I also have two kids & a full time job. The only way I can keep all the balls in the air without losing my mind is to make time to hang out with my friends and to have some time alone. Without those things, I am a crazy person. I am super lucky that many of my friends have kids in the same age range…
Before my first daughter was born, I read a bunch of stories like this & it became sort of an obsession to ALWAYS check & double check the back seat. When the girls would sleep in the car, I would often put my purse in the backseat just as an extra reminder. My hyper-vigilance was based on basic parenting skills but…
I think that is totally possible. I was really young & it never occurred to me that the whole production was at my expense. They probably were dying laughing watching all of us try so hard to pretend it was delicious or even edible.
I was not blown away by the 'Upgraded Coffee' either. It was really expensive and made a pretty unimpressive plain pour over.
I felt the same way about butter tea. I was staying on the grounds of a monastery & the monks were so excited to share it with us. I felt like it would be super rude not to drink it. I made it though the cup, but it smelled like distilled yak & tasted like yak slime. I do like butter coffee though. I think blending &…
This is much better advice than I would have given! I am old... Bacchanal is lovely & Yuki is fantastic! I also like to go see music upstairs at Little Gem on my occasional ladies nights. It is a little bit classy, the bar is great & the food is delish. I also like that you can see NOLA music without having to be…
New Orleans has the same laws everyone else has when it comes to open containers in a car or drunk driving. Just because we don't arrest people for walking down the street with a beer, does not mean it is complete anarchy.
I have discovered that both Target & Whole Foods in NOLA will take glass. I have some doubts that they really recycle it like they claim, but they will accept it. I usually send my family back north with a trunk full of glass recycling whenever they visit.
Bachelorette parties are the only reason I can think why a local would be on Bourbon St. All tourists & teenagers down there!
Lots of people imagine that allowing open containers makes people act like frat boys on every corner of New Orleans. I have lived in NOLA for many years & I actually think that it makes it easier to pace yourself. If you aren't done with your drink, don't chug it before you leave, just throw it in a solo cup and take…
My husband used to be like that when he drank. I called it going version 2.0. His tipping point seemed to be after 3 beers or after 2 good cocktails. Initially it wasn't a big deal, but when we moved to city that had a much more intensive drinking culture, it became a problem. He was 2.0 about three nights out of…
The dreaded "30 Something Hangover"! I think they should pass out pamphlets about this phenomenon, just so you know what is happening. It was like a switch flipped at 29. My hangovers went from a mild irritation to 24hrs of headaches, nausea, & vertigo. Also now that I am 32, I am am allergic to beer. It is a delight!…
I have developed a weird allergy to beer in my old age. It took me an embarrassingly long time to put it together, but just one or two beers and I will wake up retching in the middle of the night. All the after effects of a bender without any of the fun! This has brought me into camp cider & I think I like it. I'm…
I am definitely not an authority on the subject, but from what I could tell, the custom of using EC and split pants is primarily rural. Most of the kids I saw wearing them weren't in places where it could be a problem for others & it was just super cute. The bus thing was an exception & the other people on the bus…
As far as I can tell, these adorable baby pants are the best thing about EC. When I went to rural China many years ago, all of the toddlers were wearing these and I nearly died from the overwhelming cuteness. I was a little less amused when a two year old took a dump on the floor of a very crowded bus, but if the…
