My mom lost a much wanted baby at about the same time in her pregnancy, a couple of years before I was born. She talked about it, quietly, for years. This was before it occurred to anyone that parents should be able to honor-and grieve-the family that was supposed to be.

Yes. It scares me to think how many women who need medical attention might not seek it out of fear of going to jail. Losing a pregnancy is bad enough and we have to worry about that too at least in some states?

I came here to say pretty much what you said, but I would add that Dr. Oz didn’t bother to understand the question. “Smasher” literally said he wanted to stop and asked for help; he was not asking about the genetic implications for their future children.
