You have to be pretty wilfully blind to not see the hate women developers get when they DO make their own games. You can't just tell them to go make their own games without acknowledging that the shit follows them wherever they go. It's almost like it's not what they are saying - but that it's women saying it.

Not to sound rude, but all you have to do is treat them like a person. That's it. Don't need to show you know about "Blackness" to procure a Black friend. Worry about the friend part, first and foremost.

I can relate to this entire article. I grew up “ugly” and lonely and taught myself to code and use photoshop at the age of 12. Now that I’m perceived as attractive, people are shocked that I can even use a computer. A guy even accused me of trying to bank on the “hot nerd” stereotype.*le sigh*
