You know what? Fuck this.
You mean the same guy that sexually molested minor girls?
I'm confused; did the world get together and decide that they don't really believe this man committed statutory rape, or are we just ignoring that?
Sorry but I don't support this man and I wish the Black community (and everyone else) would stand up more when Black women and girls are sexually abused.
Oh look, Jezebel is loving on a misogynist that commits statutory rape.
This is such an astoundingly petty comment. This woman does more in a year for other people than you or others will likely do in your whole lives, and you're nitpicking her comment? Seriously? To say nothing of the fact that she's clearly reflecting on the frighteningly arbitrary nature of life - an arbitrariness that…
"And I really don't think Kanye was throwing FLOTUS under the bus by saying she doesn't have as large of a following on Instagram or as great of a financial impact in the fashion industry"
Well, he was drunk, but his point was that he believed the reason why Swift won over Bey was _not_ because Swift deserved it, but because of race/skin colour and racism against women of colour vs. white privilege.
I can't really say I disagree with anything you are saying. I think every now and then Kanye hits on something true for the majority of minorities. I don't think most of what he states is accurate to his specific situation, though.
His attempts at getting people to understand the Kardashians in a different way are also compelling. Kim Kardashian managed to become a sex symbol and fashion plate as a curvy, brown woman in a world that rewards whiteness and thinness.
Kanye has put himself in this position. He could easily retire into (relative) obscurity, focus on his potential designing, and leave it at that. But he chooses not to, and he acts in a way, as familiar as we are with people who either have had, or have, mental issues, that point to that.
Perhaps I’d be more apt to defend him against racism if he didn’t practice gendered racism himself, and there are plenty of battles on the racism front that I can champion without taking up arms for an intra-racist misogynist. What I took from the #blackpowerisformen meme was the idea of reciprocity and this…
I wasn't trying to say they were equal offenses. I was just stating that other stars who have suffered who have been given some consideration here. Kanye should get the same.
I don't need a reason to discredit Kanye. Kanye does that all by himself.
Of course that nincompoop didn't design leather jogging pants, and what if he did? Has sweating your clit off ever improved your job prospects or got you a date with Idris Elba. I didn't think so.
Sean John turns over hundreds of millions. Tracy Reece is a multi millionaire, Olivier Rousteing heads Balmain a couture…
Nope, sorry. I will do that here. As a black woman I'm keenly aware of the stigma of mental illness that a lot of black people hold on to. It is this stigma that prevents a lot of black people from "going there" with Kanye.
I'm not a doctor, but it's clear that he is suffering. There's nothing wrong with pointing out that maybe someone needs help instead of just enabling this behavior.
