This post is so incredibly ridiculous.

Huh? Who doesn't know who Cornel West is? You really must think Kennan is a dumb-dumb.

This post is so incredibly ridiculous.

The person who gets hired will not face a disservice. She will be someone who possibly holds a day job and gigs most nights of the weeks, possibly 2 or 3 open mikes a night clamoring for exposure, hoping that a casting agent is in the audience. This woman will probably be part of one or two comedy troupes, in

No.

Yes, true. Comedy at that level is very often a Harvard White Boys club and that needs to change.

This issue isn't that complicated. SNL is a show that lampoons popular culture. There are many, many Black women in popular culture (Michelle Obama, Oprah, Beyonce, Rihanna, Kerry Washington/Olivia Pope). In order to do its job (i.e., satirize popular culture) they need to hire people to fit the role. It's called

She's pitch and write sketches as well.

I wouldn't feel bad for any comedian who gets hired on SNL. I would do cartwheels for them and send them bottles of champagne!!

Ooops sorry, this was an open thread.

This is not the open thread.

Oh, ok. I thought this was the best episode in years. They relied on stereotypes, yes, but I think because stereotypes are comical by their nature (because they are so stupid and silly).

I thought it was one of the strongest episodes of the year! I loved the cold open, the "motivational" speaker sketch, ADORED the "Sunday Morning Roundtable" sketch, I thought KW's accent in the beauty pageant sketch was great...obviously there were "misses" like the digital short, but that's to be expected in a show

I thought it was hilarious! KW is amazing!

I'm not talking about you, specifically, but White Liberals in a general sense, and the Jezebel editorial staff/commentators general.

I don't think "choice" negates oppression, but that's another issue for another time, I guess.

And, ugggh, let's make a crack about how many kids she has (harrr, harrr) despite being a site that advocates—-out of the other side of its mouth—-that woman should not be shamed for doing with their bodies what they see fit (whether it's aborting a pregnancy, dancing on a pole, having sex on film, etc.).

This makes me uncomfortable :-(. Obviously Ms. Duggar's thinking about the world is diametrically opposed to 95% of Jezzie readers and that opens her up to scorn, I guess.

I think that this is a real question and concern. Jezebel writers and commentators went ape-shit when Lady Gaga "appropriated" the hijab a couple months ago. When I commented and asked why Jezzie was acting like the hijad was so "sacred" when it's a tool of oppression I got villified in comments.

What exactly is wrong with her raising her children according to the strictures of her faith? It's certainly not my cup o' tea, but from the little I have seen the family seems full of love and devotion.
