I think it's like a harlot? Or maybe two rungs down from a tramp?

I'm in this boat too!

I definitely needed to hear this.

If I wear foundation all day I feel like I have a layer of oil and dirt on my face. Especially if it's hot or humid outside. It's like an oil slick on my face. I can't imagine not washing my face for a month. I would go crazy. It would be so disgusting.

I don't know if they mentioned it in the Jezebel article, but I read it in The Courant earlier today (I'm from a town that's right next door to Hartford) and thinking it was absolutely atrocious. CT has some really great public school system (depending on the town) and I can't imagine someone not saying "wait a minute

Yup, that's where we went too! I wish I could remember more about it, but all I remember were giant Hershey kisses and Hershey kiss lampposts.

Hartford is also a primarily black school - which makes this all the more terrible. I don't know if the white students were subjected to this, but even if they were, I would imagine that it might not have such a strong impact as on someone whose ancestors may have actually experienced such a lifetime.

Yea, those types tend to stick together. I guess miserable shitheads love company.

Seriously - you have to have some pretty ingrained prejudice against people to be that creative/explicit when coming up with racist ass things to say about people. I can't fathom my brain even coming up with anything like that if I tried.

Do it! I think I stole it from someone else, to be honest :P It is perfect though.

There was a man who had no hands that drove to our restaurant/bar once in a while and ordered martinis. It was pretty amazing to see him hold a martini (seriously, I spill that shit all the time) and otherwise navigate with no arms.

Aw not in the quiet part of the library though, right? I can understand in any other part - but not the quiet part! I once had a guy eat pasta out of a tupperware right-next-to-me (even though the entirety of the huge library quiet room was empty) and it drove me crazy. Was that you?

I do too :( I try to eat quietly, but if I'm hungry I can't concentrate and sometimes the medication I take makes me nauseous. (And after awhile I get HANGRY) I try not to do crinkly bags or loud foods though.

Omg that's apparently a thing that really happened.

I would assume that someone who knows various concoctions would use something like that (granted, birth control and abortion medications are specific and doesn't mean she necessarily knows everything about pharmacology in general - but she must know someone who does)- as it would be far less painful and not be as...

All the comments from the site are positive. Everyone's congratulating Playboy for promoting consent. They should definitely run with this. It would be good for everybody.

I'm retracting my previous statement after reading the Smithsonian link.
Also - she committed suicide by slitting her throat ear to ear? I know it's possible to do so, but is it probable? Is there any controversy surrounding her death?

This is fascinating, thank you. I had no idea that they advertised for things like this. Even with all the euphemisms it's arguably more open than our society. No one advertises abortions (at least never anywhere that I've seen) - although they certainly advertise those "Pregnant? Need help?" signs for the christian

I still remember the first picture I saw of a woman who had died from a back alley abortion. I must have been really young - maybe 12 or 13 - and I couldn't understand how anyone would let this happen. That image is forever seared into my brain. I was raised to be feminist and pro-choice, but that image cemented it.

Gerrymandering. Creating obstacles for minority voters. Demand for photo IDs, eliminating early voting or same day registry. Long wait times to vote (several hours at times). Requiring long distance travel. There's a lot of ways to fix an election, and ensuring that the poor and disenfranchised aren't allowed to vote
