One of the biggest mistakes they made was an option for an automatic on a rotary. It never ends well. Many of the failures were caused by carbon build up in engines with automatics because they didn’t redline very easily.

I agree. I took one of these on a test drive and I have never felt so connected to a car (even my first gen Rx7). The only reason that I didn’t buy the Rx8 was that it got nixed by management due to cost reasons.
