"I don't play other games," many of these same friends would answer. "Who needs other games when you have League?" The prospect of losing myself to something so compelling that it's less a game than a lifestyle choice was enticing, but also...kinda scary. I kept my distance.

People need to understand that speedrunning has different categories on the same game and each has their own world records. For example, Super Mario World would have a WR for "Any% Ending Glitch", one for "Any% killing Bowser" (which would be the fastest route to the final boss), one for "100% run" (sometimes this…
Xenoblade Chronicles had both, so this game has a great precendent when it comes to quality and quantity. For your comment, i believe that you never played Xenoblade (i don't blame you for that, since it was a rare game to get), but i recommend you that game if you like long and interesting RPG experiences.
I saw Birrell playing on the Awesome Games Done Quick marathon, and man, his mad skills at the Tetris were simply impressive. He seems like a humble man, at least from what i saw in this two videos, so congratulations to him for getting such a great title in a game so hard and difficult.
I still think it won't be legit. As i said before, the video proof is everything and you are adding a number of time that isn't filmed, no matter if the doors actually take all the same number of seconds to open up.
Personally, i see no point of doing what you describe. But, going by your logic, you are editing the video of your run to add the clips of the door, which inmediatly invalidates your run. Why, you ask? Because you are editing your video proof.
Mods, never. Glitches, only if they exist in the game and are not done by external components.
That won't work. For your run to be accepted as a record, you need to provide a video evidence that proofs that you really got the time you are proclaming, under fair circunstances. Sites like Speed Demos Archives even post the videos on their pages for everyone to look at them.
Exactly. This would not be accepted in the speedrun community for been a mod that actually modifies the game rules. So the authour is pretty much wrong on this particular assumption.
Holy god! That Tetris game is diabolical!! This guy seriously have some mad skills, and i know there are more people like him that can play at that level, and you have to be amazed with their skill level and their rapid reaction time.
This is the best resume i have seen for MK9' story. Spot on perfectly.
It is a nice way to introduce Smash Bros to the new generation. Not everyone has been playing this game from the beginning (i started with the Smash 64), and this game can be really challenging in the way you need to keep track of a lot of things at the same time all the match. The moment you get distracted by…
Man, i love Super Metroid a lot! This is one of the best games ever created, a true masterpiece that even current developers look for inspiration, and my god is this one of the greatest experience you can have as a gamer! One of the last games that involved the great Gunpei Yokoi and had far better directing choices…
Oh man, i laugh all the way to this comment. Thanks for the great comic!
Nice article, Ben. As a Super Nintendo game collector (but in Latin America), i have used some of the tips you are providing here, like the Price Charting and Amazon/Ebay searches. It is a hard task to persuit, but a really satisfying one when you can hold a rare game in your hands (like Aero Fighters, one of my…
I always enjoyed Captain Toad's stages on SM3DW! This one looks even more awesome that the previous puzzles we got in that game, and i'm really excited to get this new game as soon as it launches on NA. Can't wait for more puzzle/adventures as the great Captain Toad!
Nowadays, as a Super Nintendo Game Collector, i use alcohol on a Q-tips to clean the connectors of the cartridge every time i need to clean them. But when i was a kid, i used to blown them to make it work. It is a funny fact that everyone used to do that by instinct
