True, but it's not Elon's style. He's very self sure, and would have gone for the tough battles first. A footing in Texas is a greater accomplishment than one in other states where auto sales groups don't take such an active role in greasing legislative palms.

Precedent. Wining over a tough lobbyist state such as Texas, would be noticed by legislatures and courts outside of the lone star state. If Musk had sharpened his claws in Texas and won, He could easily make the same case in other states, or make a stronger case at the federal level.

Driving with a purpose to get from a-to-b faster than a regular jack-off, on a public road, is reckless. Driving like that on a track is racing. A controlled closed environment makes the difference.

APD or GSP would catch you. You can ring it at 80 mph in traffic that moves that speed, but the minute you're over 65 and alone on the road, they'll decide you need a ticket. The right conditions to attempt a best lap will never exist (unless you want to Slow Lap like Raph).
