Put a roof rack on any economy vehicle, and it will do the job swimmingly. I've done 4-5 multi-state road trips with the gf on our 1st gen xB. Though I recognize that for families of more than 2, it could be a challenge.

I was late to work once. Found out (the hard way) that my car was incapable of clearing a speed bump in my area.
