Quigley Ford Econoline. Much better option for long term expedition offroadiness.

Lopey/high overlap Cam, Nitrous, Supercharged? I bet he went to grab another gear and let the RPMs drop under 3k with an intake full of fuel and spray.

cyclist lived, and there is no such thing as attempted manslaughter. Since that requires intent, which is murder.

Having installed one, and driving it daily, I would recommend skipping it unless you absolutely must have diesel. They are very gnarly, shakey, loud, unrefined engines that are very very expensive compared to their 6bt cousins.

I'm a big fan of the 5.7/6.1L Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Hemi. Comes in several horsepower ratings, transmission options, and a standalone ECU that makes it ready to rock right out of the box. Good power, good economy, and relatively compact, easy to install package. They even have optional exhaust setups.

I have them on my E-van. Replaced all the interior aisle, overhead and courtesy lights with PWM controlled LEDs. I can adjust brightness and switch between white and a dim red to save my night sight when rooting around for shit in the back.

I would suspect the truck was in an convoy that was blowing lights. Which is kinda how they operate in disaster areas. I assisted in Biloxi after Katrina and what few lights were working we just ignored when in convoy. The convoy lead unit should have flags and lights, with a sign saying CONVOY, while the convoy

I suspect the people in NY are so used to crossing whenever/wherever, that their point of view is clouded. Crossing whenever, wherever is a bad thing. Even if they have a green walk signal, they should be checking for traffic. Also, if he was 'racing to beat the red' that would imply that the light was green or

the SRT-4 was not just a neon. It was seriously mechanically different. Fast little fire breathing, mufflerless bitches.

Well, that's more potential than actual delivered energy. Other factors at play. but its nice and sensational, as well as correct-ish sounding.

Most of my landings are on water, so I have developed a different approach. Different skillset (and different certification!) for a reason I suppose.

I agree that he may need more instruction time. It seems like a fair number of instructors/schools today are doing the bare minimum. I suspect cost being a major factor there. The article mentions that the student intends to give up the pursuit. That makes me sad, hobby pilots are a thinning breed as it stands.

I should clarify my position.

If he was dead sticking it, there should have been emergency personnel on site. Closing the road at the end of the runway would probably be step 2 on the procedure list.

I'm a licensed private pilot (Airplane, Multi-Engine, Seaplane, complex, and a couple of type certificates.)

General Aviation aircraft (technical term for planes that are not airliners) fly without a schedule usually, and there is no mechanism for them to indicate they are landing other than talking to someone on the ground via radio. Airports that small typically do not have a tower or ground control.

I AM a licensed pilot.

The pilot IS at fault. The road is 40 feet from the end of the runway, but there is a 400 foot displaced threshold. This is a 'do not land here' area of the runway. 52F's Runway 17 has a glideslope of 4.5 per Jeppesen. He should have been 34 feet above the surface of the road. The VASI would have been double red,
