I don't know about the 458, but my GT is limping along with a bad 2nd gear and a leaky power steering rack right now. Furthermore, parts are NOT commonly available (you cannot buy parts for the transaxle. period.) and when you DO find OEM parts, they are massively marked up.

The nice part about having a pair of turbocharged Continentals is you can have excessive power on demand ;) The downside of having two turbocharged Continentals is that you own a Continental, that is TURBOCHARGED. I'm fairly certain i can go almost 20, maybe 30 hours between overhauls.

I've hit hot air pockets approaching North Vegas in my 310 before. The place can be deceiving, with fairly little indicator to the winds if you are not used to flying in the desert. Approaching 30L or R you fly over this flood basin thingy lined with black plastic. Sudden drop scared the shit outta me.

Development and Tooling costs are a kinda dumb expense to roll in on a new technology platform. In this case, they can be reused on other vehicles and will be diluted over time by more vehicles being made and others sharing the platform.
