Even if he did "fight with the cops", that should not be a crime punishable by instant death.
I can't fathom the mindset.
lolwut
Holy shit... that's terrifying! Helicopter away, I know I definitely would if it were me. Heck, I probably will as it is and I never had any scary encounters with strangers.
Definitely, the attitude makes all the difference. If you feel unsafe, it's going to change how you act and make decisions... regardless of whether you actually are in any danger or not. The news is nothing but doom and gloom, with every local crime or misdemeanor reported with pleas for caution and prevention. Things…
Yeah, I feel like times are just different now... and although everything points to actual crime rates going down, just hearing about every single one of them creates a culture of fear and paranoia that is hard to overcome. Not to mention your neighbors reporting you to CPS if you let your kid walk down the street…
Oh totally. I grew up in a town of not quite 6000 people and we knew almost all of our neighbors, so there was a feeling of familiarity and safety that definitely played a part in our freedom.
How children lost the right to roam in four generations has a pretty crazy graph of how far children were allowed to roam on their own (6 miles to 300 yards), granted that graph only shows one family... but I feel like it is representative of the attitudes of each generation.
IVF and ectogenisis are hugely different though... the months long gestation process and birth are very important and finely tuned (although imperfect), where mothers go through immense physiological changes in order to be able to support the baby during and after birth, where as the fertilization of an egg is a much…
Ooh good one, stealing that!
Thanks :) That's the most basic explanation I can give people (men) when they don't get why catcalling is inappropriate. Would you ever even consider saying those things to someone you respected? No? Then it's fucking rude and disrespectful. Not hard.
Right, but how well would it work? How can you test it without having those first guinea pig babies grow up into adults, seeing how it affects their development, personalities, relationships, etc?
Yes, this is my issue with ectogenisis as well. There are so many physiological changes mothers goes through to be able to mother and support the baby when it's born (I mean, one obvious one... breastfeeding??), and the same goes for the baby to recognize voices, smells and bond with their parents. Even vaginal birth…
Ahh, but then who would take care of these babies? That's a mountain of work that I just can't see men wanting to take on by themselves. Also, who would do all the low paying care work like early child development and care for the elderly? And don't forget 2/3rds of the minimum wage jobs performed by women... we have…
Every now and then one of my male friends will have an experience where someone was being condescending or cutting them off continually in conversations, or harassed on the street or in their car, or being touched without their permission... and they are usually hilariously confused and furious about these happenings.…
I love hate when men try to make this argument... "if a gay guy hits on me it's no big deal and it's totally the same heerrpp deerp". Classic.
Wow, what an incredibly powerful message to receive from a male teacher... you should not be required to put up with men shouting at you from car windows. It seems like a super simple, no brainer concept... but that's not something I realized until I was in my early-ish 20s. I wish an adult had told me that when I was…
I don't think anyone is suggesting that co-workers are the ones that should have to figure out how to deal with women's absence during mat leave... we want standardized mat leave across the board, for mothers AND fathers so that women are not easy targets for employment discrimination.
Yes, this. Cat calling, muttering, blurting out "compliments" about someone's body is not how you talk to a person. You would never, EVER say or do those things to someone you respect... Therefor women are not persons or worthy of respect.
