Strength of Materials 101 — loads can be resisted up to a certain limit and recover without change. Exceed the limit and most materials will stretch before they fail ( particularly aluminum ) . The problem is that the stretching also substantially reduces the materials ability to resist subsequent force so failure

What. ???? No jay Leno concept bikes. ??? No jet bikes??? No viper engined bikes? No “tron” bikes ???

The battleship Bismarck lasted about 2 weeks on its first cruise

I still don’t see the problem. The rules say it needs to pass the tests at any time. All the cars pass the test — do they not??? To me ( and no doubt some engineers at vw ) it seems the objective was met.

It’s called an escape road. Or a runaway truck ramp.

Exactly. If it is used in India expect to see at least 10 people inside, 40 bales of cargo strapped to the back and top and another dozen passengers on top of the cargo.

914’s regularly were faster at auto crosses in the mid 70s. Up until this year a 914-6 generally took fastest time at the PCA parade autocross. Granted a modified 914-6 but a six never the less.

........ And as you wait for us to show when you may pass here are a few short adds you might enjoy........:

Simple. The Rolls is the brand that is meant to be driven by the chauffeur, But a Bentley has always been meant to be driven by the owner and never the chauffeur. See “the Bentley Boys”.

Last week In Newport volvo was demoing the self parking ability . It worked Maybe half the time They ran the demo despite the perfectly controlled conditions. .....and it was all done behind a barrier so no one could get hurt when (not if) the demo failed

That’s a great Idea, Particularly since it goes right in front of my Office!!!!

A 914-6 with race tires frequently had FTD at local Autocrosses and Timed Track day events ( back in the days when we still had timed track day events. Now, granted, that this particular 6 had a 2.7 liter engine in it but it still handily beat the 2.7 911’s

Actually I had a set of those where the bolts that hold the rim to the center section started to back off. Granted this was during a track day at morsport with sticky tires, so not normal use. And they are not exactly light weight wheels...... So no I would not recommend them

Simple explanation as to why so little is spent onmaintence.

Yes Guy is cool. Unfortunately he also needs subtitles for anyone not brought up in his home town. Can't understand a word he says

Do that once or twice in a year and it’s a “hobby”. And falls under income - other.

Since the 60’s. The 911 in all it’s 100’s of versions. From SCCA class B. To 935’s and GT 1. To today’s GT 3’s

The A Teams Van never had a name. .... And Mr T. Would pity the fool who attempted to add a “name” to his van. Particularly a name as girly as “Scooby”.

I was at his first SCCA drivers school at Tompson. He started out in a formula ford. Broke that .

A boot camp might get you in the door, but most IT managers have had bad experiences with the skill set that results from these “90 day wonders”. They frequently have a very over inflated view of their ability and talent. I don’t have the time to unscramble your undocumented “spaghetti code”. But I can use someone who
