What’s changed, I think, is that we as a society have undergone a (long overdue) sea change in how we view crimes against women. We’ve still got a long way to go, but I think (hope) we’ve passed the tipping point, and we no longer dismiss such claims so easily, nor do we so readily give the benefit of the doubt to men

We talked about this. And he totally would have taken my last name if having the same name was important to us. But he has a really great sounding first and last name combo (and he has a very uncommon last name, while I have a much more common one).

We got married last year and my husband took my last name. It’s so freaking awesome. We can weed out a lot of closeted bigots by their reaction, and gain quick friends who think it is awesome too. Such a simple act that speaks volumes about what we value.

So, you’re saying a woman who was the best thing that ever happened to you, couldn’t have children...so you left. Adoption is an option these days, you know. I hope she was understanding and sympathetic to your needs. And that in no way she was made to feel bad about her inability to have children, which i am sure she

Larry David always plays Larry David. That’s what makes it fucking hilarious.

The best part about this is he’s not even playing Bernie Sanders. He’s just playing Larry David. And it all works!

I’m a boring, standard issue white dude, but I like her because she’s funny.

Oh that’s the “controversy”? That people weren’t paying sufficient attention to a baseball game? Right, because it all happens so fast, lol. I couldn’t figure out why this was a story, and I’m still kind of confused.

Oh, okay then. Here goes.

There is no such thing as a meritocracy in the US, no matter how much you and others repeat it

If I had to go on HSN I would DEFINITELY be day drunk.

...I think you’re severely underestimating how very easy it is to post on Gawker. This isn’t time-consuming rocket science.

Not directed at you, you just brought up a great point. I wish we could stop with this “marriage isn’t taken lightly”. It is. We have countless celebrities marrying for publicity and non-celebs marrying because they got drunk in Vegas, needed someone to split the rent and so forth.

Same. I’m also amazed that they haven’t even managed a “we were doing what we thought was best for the safety of our student body at the time, but we’re sorry for the humiliation and fright our caution has caused Ahmed” pseudo apology yet. Would it kill them to fake some compassion here? They put a kid through some

I’m so glad your fee-fees are guiding you in judging a woman who was abducted and raped.

Yeah, I understand that. I’m on a therapy break now. It does get really exhausting, especially because it really is something that is up to the individual but also, I think, might be something that is impossible to change, at least in part. I do think it is partially hardwiring, so part of it is trying to just accept

I’ve done therapy (individual and residential/group) and basically just learned a bunch of “coping mechanisms.” Like I said, I know my brain is broken. That sounds worse than I mean it, but it’s my own brand of self-deprecating humor and is actually part of what I’ve found helps a little, tiny bit. It’s reminding

That might be 100% true and very valid, but I feel like people are completely glossing over the fact that a) she says she has body dysmorphia and b) she acknowledges that “a lot of people wouldn’t consider [her] fat.” I don’t know, I have BDD so maybe I am either projecting or I just understand where she is coming

I just want to see average people, period. That seems far more common in foreign television shows. I’d love it if they just casted according to personality and talent with no regard to anything else. I don’t want a “schlubby quota.”

“One play after the umpire was struck, a personal foul was called on Moreno for hitting the Marble Falls quarterback, who had taken a knee to run out the clock. Moreno was assessed a 15-yard penalty but was not ejected.”
