The Golf R in Canada is only $39,995 before taxes, $44,795 after taxes. Get the tech pack which makes it fully loaded (excellent deal for $2K) and its only $47,000 after taxes. If you can afford it, just jump up to the R for another $6K. I spec’d the GTI fully loaded and I believe it was $36K, for $4K more i’d go for the R, but i’m going to be patient to actually test drive one and wait for the Focus RS. I don’t want buyers remorse on such a big purchase.
