I’m sorry that makes absolutely no sense. THAAD is strictly a defensive system. How is that destabilizing? Because Dear Leader’s toys won’t work if he decides to use them?

The food at some of the newer outlets is actually quite good. Fronterra Cocina in Disney Springs is a good example. Rick Bayless has a stake in the restaurant, designed the menu, and visits often to check on the kitchen and to cook for special events. It’s on par with Fronterra/Topolobampo/Xoco in Chicago.

Well played. Well. Played.

Well played.

Lasers really have the potential to be game changers simply because speed no longer matters. Hitting the target is no longer an issue. The only issue is delivering enough energy.

That’s precisely the argument all of Europe made after WWI. That was widely accepted as the “war to end all wars”... even by the Germans... because the economic and human losses were so horrific. How long did that last?

Very true. MAD works. It’s an uncomfortable way to keep the peace but, so far, it’s the best thing humanity has found. There’s a chart out there (of course I can’t find it now) that shows deaths due to war as a % of the global population for the last 2,000 years. It’s a surprisingly flat line until about the mid 1700s

This would be reasonable. Their land based ICBMs haven’t just been silo queens either. The Russians were big fans of mobile ICBMs. The U.S. looked at road-mobile ICBMs in the 1960s and determined that all of the bumping and jostling of driving over a road (especially an unpaved road) tended to cause maintenance issues

Isn’t that Israel’s flag (note the two flags hanging from the pole near the end of the video)?

Seriously, some of Gawker’s writers should just quit. The quality of the writing is embarrassing. At this point, I only visit Gawker sites out of habit.

It can fly at an altitude of 50,000 miles, eh? Impressive. Most impressive.

I grew up in a similarly strange fashion.

There are plenty of other NATO countries that make their own anti-tank weapons that they could give to Ukraine. Pretty much all of those countries are closer to Russia than the U.S, have a more vested interest in buffering Russia, and don’t contribute as much to NATO as the U.S.

I don’t know you but I’m so so proud of you right now.

10/10

The oil companies aren’t diversifying or investing in other forms of energy because, like other old and large companies, they aren’t nimble.

🤔

What a lot of people don’t realize is that in a country like Saudi Arabia where there are so many massive welfare programs that are completely dependent on oil revenue, their cost of production isn’t just the cost of rigs, pipelines, and associated labor. It’s also the cost of said social programs. IIRC, for the

True story: I once watched Tiger Woods pay his Gold’s Gym membership cancellation fee with a bag full of pennies. 100% true.
