Seems like a rather basic technology to engineer some sort of accordian gasket that could better insulate the gate with the plane. I’m thinking of something along the lines of what attaches the front and back of an articulating bus.

Randomly, I had what would’ve been about a 2012 Legacy loaner with cloth. seats.  The driver seat was comfy! I found it soft and supportive with no pressure points or posture issues.

(Disclaimer: I’m far from a SAB expert.) I think this was “GM era” in so far as the purchase had taken place, but I don’t think this one is “GM tainted” so to speak.
