It depends on whether they want to prevent the perception of impropriety vs actual impropriety. In this case, the issue is that he didn’t inform of his linkage before he took the case. Much as how jurors are expected to say if they know the defendant or plaintiff, and whether it would affect their impartiality.

For an occasional weekly driver, I’m going to suggest something with an Automatic Transmission, as there won’t be enough frequency to maintain muscle memory for a Manual Transmission. Also, because it’ll be snowing soon enough, so it’s important to minimize driver workload for such situations.
