That’s not true. A number of areo mods do basically nothing, but teams keep them on because they don’t hurt the performance, and (more importantly) it keeps the other teams guessing how good the effect is, so those teams have to test to see what’s going on, rather than ceding some potential benefit.

To be fair, NASCAR still gets the money and eyeballs, so fully-enclosed cars aren’t a bad thing.

Indycar has nearly enclosed the rear wheels, for that wierd arrow shape. It just happens to be exposed from the top and side views. But front and rear, you can’t really see the rear tires.

And really, those cars should have enclosed bodywork like an LMP - it *is* a lot safer, because it prevents the situation when one

The rugby guys like to say that the lack of a pads and helmets promotes a safer sport, because they players would act to protect themselves.

I say, let them line up against an American line, and see how they take the initial hit when the ball is snapped... Our guys come off the line like a freight train.

I always root for the bulls, and love to see the matadors gored. That’s the best. #TeamBull FTW!

But, where will the parachutes land? If your chute pod is coming down at the end of the back straight, won’t that be kinda bad?

Tradition rules.

F1 should go back to bias ply tires with mandatory magnesium bodywork and wheels. Also, fuel tanks shall be single wall mild steel, with a ban on both baffles and bladders. NO aerodynamic gegaws, either - just a drop tank body. If it was good enough at the dawn of racing, it’s good enough today.

That

The IOC is more corrupt than FIFA, but less corrupt than FIA (Formula 1 car racing).

No, 100% Tesla. If the car behaves in a way that the driver is surprised / panics / makes an unsafe response, then the car is unsafe. Simple as that. Tesla autopilot is unsafe, but it has been overmarketed in a dishonest way.

If Tesla writes bad software that they oversell for marketing reasons, and I happen to notice that, it’s not anti-Tesla... it’s anti-lying and anti-sleaze.

As expected, it’s actually Tesla’s fault here.

Not really. LA doesn’t need more traffic.

Fortunately, there are other news organizations who will be happy to do so, preferably with NBC logos in the background...

As a pessimist, I can tell you that is completely untrue - we actually live in the best of all possible countries in the best of all possible worlds.

No, the WNBA was absolutely going to fine the players. Up until they all said “fuck this” in unison and started making the WNBA look like the asshats they really are.

Holy crap, they look like hospital gowns.

Huh? White and gold? It’s blue and black to me...

Bad engine, bad tires, bad chassis, bad brakes = shit to drive, even in a low traction surface.

I think the newest vans can be quite nice. An executive Sprinter camper would be lovely. Not so much for the driving, but for the sheer comfort and convenience.

Does it matter? They’re all shit to drive.
