Would you burn $1 every morning for no reason at all? 3 kWh of electricity may not cost much but it is a lot of power to just disappear. Every night. And as pointed out, multiply that by the number of Teslas in service. A fix is worth pursuing.

not that it's a huge deal/difference, but electricity is about $.48 per Kw/h where I live, so around $1.50-$2.50 a night

I agree, gotta find an alternative. That said, the disincentives are MASSIVE and creating a lot of problems.
