@With.a.G: when you're lightweight like the Elan was, FWD can be a better option than rwd, due to the engine being over the wheels and giving more traction as a result. Man would I want one of those, plastic body too so it wouldn't rust :)

Transmission tech is already almost there, and europe's had celan/efficient diesels for years.
