Trolling is harmless teasing (U mad, Link is a girl, etc) to provoke an emotional response (typically anger or annoyance). If it ever ventures into personal attacks, like your example about the rape, then it turns into bullying.

You are correct that most games, including Black Ops 2 has a Mute option. Why very few of the people used it is beyond me.
