every movie burton made from pee-wee’s big adventure thru ed wood were unique, fun, witty, astounding, and perfect in their own way. after that, every movie got steadily worse. some people like sleepy hollow or big fish. sweeney todd had its moments (but it was mostly just the great songs).

independence day is a so-bad-its-good re-watch. mars attacks is far from perfect, but it is self-aware.

mars attacks was burton’s first imperfect film, obviously a grim omen of what was to come. sleepy hollow, big fish, corpse bride would all get progressively worse. everything beyond that is actually terrible.

yeah. i caught that too. i think its likely both westworld’s and rick and morty’s writers are stealing from classic sci-fi short story concepts.

Jojo Rabbit’s wildly careening tonal shifts made it a bit of a mess, but it was probably the funniest movie of 2019. and what we do in the shadows was the funniest series of 2019.
