Seems to be the trend with the redesigns. I originally liked it when all the articles had full size pictures so I didn't have to strain my eyes to see.

Truthfully almost every single version of iOS is just a small upgrade with some improvements sold with a newer number to make it feel brand new, and thus sell the same old same old for a brand new price. iOS7 was the biggest change but most of the other versions brought new apps and a feature or two.
