I probably have more nostalgia for the GTO simply because it was - strangely enough - the car I associated most with professional drifting during the time.

Meanwhile I’m loving that drift GTO running next to it

The probability of a vaccine is pretty low, to be honest. There was never a working vaccine for the SARS virus, and COVID-19 is related (it’s actually SARS2, the electric boogaloo).

But the article mentions specific % drops.

This was my experience. Went into a dealer at the very end of March and got $8k off a new Subaru and an extra $2500 on my trade in from what they were originally offering/asking. They didn’t have a clue what to do at the beginning. Now it seems they have a plan - Time will tell whether it’s the right plan.

Friend had the Lexus, they’re fantastic cruising cars. Toyota reliability is pretty high. Of course the best convertible around is the Miata, but they still don’t make a 4-seat (or larger) version. :-D   (My friend sold the Lexus and picked up a brand new Miata RF.)

This describes pretty much every car business.

Based on the above article there may soon be a glut of V6 Mustang convertibles to drive prices down....

Holders of Hertz’s asset-backed securities could delay pressuring Hertz to sell down its fleet for a short period of time, but they will need Hertz’s banks to promise to make them whole. The banks, in turn, may not want to take on such a risk, which requires them to bet that either the rental car business or used car

So it turns out Hertz is the same as the people who finance cars to rent them out on Turo.

The only move Hertz has is to unload just enough cars (before the other rental companies do) to get itself financially in a position where they can declare bankruptcy with a hope of coming out of it. That is, get themselves to a financial position pre-bankruptcy to have other investors come in (there is such a concept

I’ve been a Hertz Gold member for nearly 20 years, and I do like the company.  They’ve always treated me very well.  I’m also sorry to see them succumb as part of this overall economic free fall.  That said, my lease is up in 12 months and I hope to return to the CPO fold.  If I can score a great deal, I’m for it.  I

Depending on your location and use. I think two 30 mile+ commutes to work and my regular shopping via ridesharing-du-jour will be much more than a car payment.

1st Gear: 80% drop in profit still means they are making a profit. I would see this as a pretty good silver lining given the situation. Plenty of others are talking losses.

They are finally back to loading the first time! Even on mobile. Maybe they do want to survive after all!

Not related to the article, but according to Kinja Support they deployed some changes to the comment section last Friday. They seem to be showing up for me now, how about you guys?

Considering that I hate society and commuting, I’ve honestly never been better

I’m not a Mopar fan because of all the rental breakdowns I’ve experienced, but it’s obvious why the Challenger remains so successful. It’s really a terrific looking car. The photos are beautiful, too.

I love how about half of what makes your average ‘really awesome car/architecture/wedding photo’ awesome is actually nature. There’s something deeply comforting in that to me; we make the most beautiful objects we know how, and they are still dwarfed by their surroundings., the products of physics and chance.
