@Sweet Machine: Yes.. I understand this. The direction I meant to take about this topic, is how words become bastardized, then unusable.

@Sweet Machine: I was not implying, at all.. that it's okay to insult people with disabilities. I'm just raising the point about word usage and where do we draw the line about words that some deem offensive, and others do not? This is not just about the word 'retard', to me.

@Sweet Machine: "If one is assuming that's the case, then the assumption is the insult.. not the word".

@Sweet Machine: I have a feeling that a lot of what I am saying, is being ignored, in favor of what you want to read into it. I understand, it's a sensitive topic for you. I'm not saying I don't believe you or that others can't be cruel. Never did I imply that it's okay to insult people with disabilities. No one I

@Sweet Machine: I seem to have stepped on your toes. That was not my intent.. and yet, it sort of proves a point. Some are more sensitive to words and the meanings others have attached to them, and some of us, have had different experiences, and don't attach the same meanings. I'm sorry your brother was treated

@Sweet Machine: Just because you have a different opinion, and a different experience, doesn't make mine invalid.

@Plate2.18: I think we get too bent out of shape about words, in general. Words are given worth by their intent and context, not solely based on one of their meanings or interpretations. True, some have been permanently ruined, and will never be accepted. Is this becoming one of them? It may be. I used it recently,

When I've used the word "retard", I've used it as I've used the word idiot, schmuck or buffoon (idiot, is really my preference though ;-). It does not solely mean a person who has been diagnosed with a developmental challenge. If one is assuming that's the case, then the assumption is the insult.. not the word.

I want you to know.. if the word 'idiot' is next, I will be struck dumb.

@gluechirp: As a Leo, I find that highly offensive!

@kkatt: Aww.. thanx!

"If you're crazy and you know it, clap your hands"

"...people who care..."

In this shot, they look more like diapers. HOT!

I know there must be some connection between this bare-chested dude and the concept of 'romance', but it's lost on me.

@magstheaxe: I see that expression too, but overall, to me it feels resentful and angry. Ick. It really rubs me the wrong way.

@Gnatalby: Yes.. I find it frightening too. The tone of his narration as well. I think the person behind this ad has some things to work out.

@jfwlucy: Oh my goodness. Let it out!
