There are many things I love about Japanese culture. Their treatment of drug addiction and many other mental illnesses as a moral or spiritual failure is not one of them.

All their money comes from software, it seems like they are handicapping themselves by putting resources into hardware development, manufacturing, and marketing.

Here’s are two good ways to justify “traditional” consoles:

1) About 1/3 to 1/5 the cost of a quality gaming PC (Consoles are generally sold at a loss, console makers make money off of the licensing fees).
2) Don’t need to get onto the PC hardware rat-race

And I think that intimidation is true for far more people than you think it is, hence why a console where they know they don’t have to mess with any of the insides is going to continue being popular.

I think you’re really underselling the “easier to use” perception. While building a gaming PC is not nearly as hard as it used to be and is more accessible than ever, there are still a lot of people who are going to get intimidated when you start slinging out technical terms when it comes to building a rig. 

I wish more of Bernie’s fans would take a serious look at Warren. She is just as progressive, has actual plans on how she’d get shit done, and isn’t a cranky old pain in the ass. Ah well...
