These are exactly the kind of “parents” who wonder why their kids move away the minute they turn 18 and never keep in touch afterwards.

Coming back to this in the morning and seeing a lot of “Heather, leave this this to us hardcore gamers if you can’t beat it.” or whatever and I just gotta... like... remind folks who I am and what I do for a living:

I do it just to irritate folks with post histories like yours—as it’s almost exclusively the “defend my right to be an asshole” types who feel the need to tone police others. ;)

I just will never understand people that will defend this game not having an easy mode.

I’ll be honest. All these responses to the effect of ‘maybe this kind of game isn’t for you and anyway there are plenty of other games’ sounds like someone complaining that we don’t need Braille books because maybe blind people should just accept that books aren’t for them.

That *is* harsh though because you’re all but asking players with disabilities to go elsewhere. In this example, an easy mode or even a series of toggles that allow players to customize game experiences is about allowing them to participate in that experience. It’s inclusive, and not in the dime-store way that word is…

Making the game “easier” is a slippery slope. Where do you stop? What is the defined standard for how easy a game is?
