Long ago, in the before times, before torrents and Netflix and even, dear reader, before a thing the older among you knew as “Napster”, the Grammy awards thought they needed a separate category for metal.

Because Black artists being segregated and essentially punished because their music comes off as “too racial” is problem. Especially since the Grammys is supposed to equally award the elite. It’s like how yes, people care about #OscarsSoWhite because it points to how racial problems even impact art.

I like his stance. He’s not making it about him anymore than it is, and he’s using his privileged position to gently point something broken out.

I care. I get why it’s easy not to feel for Drake (I mean I still do anyway), but there are broader implications. If this sort of artistic segregation can happen at the highest levels, then it can happen at any level.
