I am somewhere in-between this and a last-minute rushing out the door person. I would love to be able to make myself get up early enough to have a bit of “me time” and put things in order before I start my work day. But I just can’t get out of bed! I still get up with enough time to have a not-rushed morning ablutions

That’s very sweet of you! I have no idea if it holds up, haha. I actually wish I knew more about it too. When I think about it as a whole it seems kind of brutal in lots of ways. There's an incredible biography of Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff that you might really like! It's detailed and evocative and incredibly

Way to go! I hadn’t heard updates on that clinic — so glad to hear things are moving forward!!

[Insert RESOUNDING APPLAUSE gif here because I am impaired]. THANK YOU!! Praise hands! Everything else too!

I have never noticed anyone doing it, which probably means that I literally can’t distinguish it. And as such it is meaningless and just a way to say “I don’t want to listen to young women.” However, when some men use upspeak it comes across as being really patronizing, like they think I can’t understand them unless

They’re probably doing it because they don’t want to be talking to you specifically in the first place.

Yeah, I’m a very regular/longterm PP volunteer and I know I couldn’t do it. I’ve gotten more used to seeing the protesters, so I don’t get instantly irate and tend to find it sad/funny at times, but I know my limits, and I know that it’s not the best way for me personally to represent and contribute to Planned

Ha, I have totally thought about that same thing, w/r/t the third party aspect! That kind of epistemology is so so compelling.

Oh man that is so cool!! I love intersections of art and Classical mythology/inspirations so much. And it is really awesome to see how even contemporary Classical writers and artists played off different aspects of the same stories for their own purposes.

Oh for sure! Did you major in English, or in Latin? It’s so crazy how one Latin word can have very disparate meanings — to us the concepts are only loosely related. Leaves LOTS of room for interpretation! Especially when the grammar is so very flexible as well.

No, I stuck with literary analysis of the concepts themselves — I majored in Latin so I had to do my own interpreting! That would be interesting if you were studying English literature/translations specifically! It is fascinating to see how broadly Latin poetry can be interpreted. That was what made me fall in love

Wow, I wrote my BA thesis on Love, Fear, and Rape in Ovid’s Metamorphosis! It’s so cool to see someone’s take who’s spent so much more time on this! It can be SO hard to put Greek or Roman mythology into any kind of modern context, or to use it to exemplify historical trends, and this is done so expertly. Usually when

I agree. They asked him to be the man they need him to be. So far it seems like he’s taking it seriously. He’s a smart guy, I have faith that he knows he needs to bone up on issues that matter to POC. He isn’t the longest running independent in Congress by accident!

Same with Reynaud’s phenomenon. If I’m in a too-cold room or outside in the cold and get at all stressed, all the blood goes out of my fingers and they go totally numb! It sucks! Not nearly as bad as arthritis though as it isn’t painful.

Yeah, I’m a human icicle basically. 77 is maybe starting to feel comfortable in my world. 80 is where I feel fully comfortable and warm. I’m like a lizard and I live in blankets. My coworkers think I’m crazy because I wear pants and sleeves year round, even though it gets into the 90s and up in July/August here.

Same here too, but I regularly bathed and showered with my mom. They're actually especially happy memories- it was like our special thing! Which probably provided the boundaries right there. I still compare myself like almost anyone, but I'm definitely comfortable in my skin in saunas, massages, and other naked

Hahaha YES! I remember watching that broadcast very fondly.

The Times version is my parent’s idea of my life/available choices. They think that since I went to college at 18 I’m just like these NY/Harvard people and can do whatever and that I have money coming out of my ears. The whole yes I have a degree and a good job and work full time but can’t buy a house or have kids

THANK YOU HERO HUMAN YOU ARE PERFECT

Bottom line to me is, if you choose to have kids, you choose to sacrifice unlimited adult freedom. That means if you can’t get a sitter, you can’t go to a fine dining establishment with your small children. If you’re at a casual restaurant with a small child that begins acting up, you need to remove the child until
