Here's hoping it's more like the Hogfather adaptation, and less like Going Postal...
I'd just like to say that the guy who writes PkgBackup was very helpful when I couldn't get it to run on 4.0, got it working for me very quickly. Very convenient app, worth the money. I haven't used AptBackup, but I heard enough about it being broken on more recent OS versions (at the time it was broken on 3.0 and…
This the way it should be, ethically and constitutionally, but unfortunately in many states there are statutes on the books protecting law enforcement from being filmed. That's the case here in Massachusetts.
I introduced a Mexican friend of mine to The Wire. His English is really good, but he's not a native speaker, and he needed subtitles (in English) to understand a lot of the dialogue. Hell, I grew up in Atlanta and I had trouble with the slang at first.
Yes, dammit! Every scifi movie I've gotten hyped for so far this year has ended up getting roundly panned.
Ion drive != antimatter drive. Ion drives have been basically standard on unmanned deep-space probes for at least a decade (Hayabusa, Deep Space 1, etc). They're better than rockets for long-distance travel, but have very low acceleration. They still aren't good enough for interstellar travel if you want to do it in…
Not by sticking brainlessly to a single formula, no.
Nobody will probably see this post...
That's what I meant, it's technically true that Discovery has spent a year in space. It's not technically true that life on Earth came from space, or that there is evidence for that- it's only true that there's evidence the components for life came from space.
He did say: "some poor sap... in the hopes of making his overpriced phone", so he's at least saying that buying the phone used off-contract is overpriced, and again, I can see used unlocked Android phones going for similar prices on craigslist.
Sorry, how is the iPhone overpriced? It costs about the same as any high-end Android phone at launch. The Samsung Fascinate and Droid 2 are $199 with contract, same as the iPhone 4. There are plenty of reasons to go Android over iPhone (or vice versa, or webOS, or WP7), but all high-end smartphones are about the same…
Maybe on the 360 the load screens were as long as the elevators, but that definitely wasn't the case on PC.
Wasn't this how the wormholes in Contact (the movie at least, it's been so long since I read the book that I don't remember if it was the same) worked?
Fire no, but they could probably find basic chemical reactions to create heat at around the same stage of development. Eventually their tech could be based on phononics rather than electronics.
That one is at least technically true.
